거창국제연극제를 찾아주신 국내외 귀빈여러분, 그리고 거창군민 여러분! 대단히 반갑습니다.
빼어난 자연경관을 자랑하는 거창 수승대에서 연극과 관객이 하나되는 축제의 장, 제35회 거창국제연극제를 개최하게 된 것을 매우 뜻깊게 생각합니다. 아울러, 우리나라 대표 야외공연 예술축제인 거창국제연극제를 함께 하기 위해 먼 걸음 해주신 국내외 연극인 여러분과 관객 여러분을 진심으로 환영합니다.
이번 제35회 거창국제연극제는 ‘인간, 자연속에 연. 극적인 세상!’이라는 슬로건으로 7월 25일부터 8월 3일까지 10일간의 일정으로 거창군 수승대 일원에서 개최됩니다. 그동안 거창국제연극제가 자연과 어우러진 무대 예술의 아름다움을 전국에 알려왔고, 우리 거창은 예술과 문화의 향기가 물씬 풍기는 문화도시로 거듭 성장해 가고 있습니다.
35년의 역사와 명성을 이어온 거창국제연극제가 국내 대표 야외공연 예술축제를 넘어 세계적인 연극축제로 발돋움하기 위해 연극인들과 지역사회, 관계자들의 지혜와 열정을 다시 한번 모아야 하며, 우리 거창군도 많은 지원을 아끼지 않겠습니다.
올해 연극제는 우리나라를 비롯한 7개 국가에서 총 57개의 단체가 참가하여 총 76회의 공연을 선보입니다.
야외공연 축제의 특성을 살려 개·폐막은 수승대의 상징인 거북바위를 배경으로 진행되며, 구연서원, 축제극장, 대나무극장 또한 자연과 어울리는 장소로 거창국제연극제에 걸맞은 멋진 무대가 연출될 것으로 기대됩니다. 부대 행사로는 지난해 큰 호응을 얻은 ‘워터밤’ 행사를 비롯한 세계풍물관, 체험부스, 플리마켓, 농산물판매장도 준비하고 있습니다.
거창 수승대의 수려한 자연경관을 배경으로 펼쳐지는 연극의 매력에 푹 빠져 보시기 바라며, 수승대 출렁다리를 비롯한 용암정, 무병장수 둘레길 등 다양한 볼거리도 즐겨 보시기 바랍니다.
한 여름의 무더위도 날려 버리고 추억과 행복으로 가득한 거창국제연극제가 되시길 소망합니다. 감사합니다.
To guests from home and abroad visiting the Geochang International Festival of Theatre, and Geochang-gun residents! It is my great pleasure to welcome you all.
I consider it profoundly meaningful to host the 35th Geochang International Festival of Theatre, where theater and audiences unite as one, amidst Suseungdae’s splendid natural landscapes. I also sincerely welcome artists from domestic and foreign regions and audiences who traveled far to join Korea’s premier outdoor performing arts festival.
The 35th Geochang International Festival of Theatre, under the slogan ‘Humans, A Dramatic World. Revealed in Nature’, will be held for 10 days, from July 25th to August 3rd, across Suseungdae. Geochang International Festival of Theatre has showcased the beauty of nature integrated stage arts nationwide and Geochang has grown into a culture-rich city full of arts and cultural vitality. To elevate the Geochang International Festival of Theatre, with its 35 years history and prestige, from Korea’s premier outdoor festival to a global theater festival, artists, local communities, and officials must pool their wisdom and passion. Geochang-gun County will also pledge full support.
This year Geochang International Festival of Theatre will present 76 performances by 57 groups from 7 countries. Reflecting the unique characteristics of an outdoor performance festival, opening and closing ceremonies will be held against Suseungdae’s symbolic Turtle rock. Also, Guyeonseowon, Chukje Theater and Daenamoo Theater are also nature harmonized venue and they will also provide stages worthy of the Geochang International Festival of Theatre. Subsidiary events include last year’s popular ‘Water Bomb’, World Folk Art Zone, Hands-on Booth, Flee Market, and Geochang-gun Local Agricultural and Special Products. Immerse yourselves in theater’s allure against Suseungdae’s scenery, and explore attractions like the suspension bridge, Yongamjeong Pavilion, and Mubyeong Jangsu Trail.
May the Geochang International Festival of Theatre dispel midsummer heat, filling hearts with lasting memories and joy.
